Offered for sale is this Early Longrifle, inspired by a European stocked rifle featured on page 51 of “Moravian Gunmaking II”. This rifle is stocked in sugar maple and stained with iron nitrate. The barrel is a .54 caliber Colerain, 31″ in length, with round bottom rifling. The length of pull is 13 5/8″. The lock is a Chambers round faced Germanic lock.
The barrel and lock have been cold blued, then rubbed back to a steel grey color. The raised wood carving on the stock is patterned after the original piece. Sling swivels are located on the trigger guard boss, and the forward part of the stock. Engraving is present on the lock, butt piece comb, and side plate.
Additional photographs are available for serious, perspective purchasers.
This rifle is offered for sale at $4,600.00. I will pay all shipping and insurance to the lower 48 States, and the rifle will be shipped in a wood shipping crate.
This is a very nicely balanced rifle that handles, and holds extremely well.
