***SOLD*** This Germanic hunting rifle is not based on any particular original piece, although the stock architecture comes from an original Austrian rifle, and the brass mounts are copied from an original Germanic piece. The rifle is stocked in English walnut, and has a horn muzzle cap. A sling swivel has been incorporated into the forward end of the rifle, and a steel button on the underside of the butt to accept a sling. The barrel is a 31″, .58 caliber Rice, and has a threaded breach plug that mimics a standing breach. A “white lightning” vent liner has been installed in the barrel. The lock is a Davis Early Colonial with a reshaped lock plate. Both the lock and barrel have been finished armory bright. The butt piece, trigger guard, side plate, and ram rod pipes were cast from an original Germanic hunting rifle. The butt piece, trigger guard, and side plate have chiseled decorations cast into the pieces, and additional engraving has also been added to the butt piece. A brass inlay has been incorporated into the molding of the cheek piece, and has been engraved with Baroque designs. Engraved brass inlays have also been incorporated into the wood patch box. The lock and breach area of the barrel has been engraved and chiseled with appropriate Baroque style designs. Baroque style wood carving is present around the rear ram rod pipe, around the barrel tang, on the wrist, and behind the cheek piece. Silver wire inlay is also incorporated into the piece around the patch box, and in the carving designs around the rear ram rod pipe, and the carving behind the cheek piece. This rifle is in new, unfired condition.
Additional photographs are available for serious, perspective purchasers.
