***SOLD*** Offered for sale is a iron mounted, Stevensburg, VA school longrifle. This rifle is inspired by the famous Klette rifle of Stevensburg, VA, built by Frederick Klette. The stock design and architecture of this rifle were derived from tracings and measurements taken from the original Klette rifle. This rifle is meant to be an Early interpretation of the Stevensburg school, incorporating Baroque design and styling commonly associated with a pre Revolutionary War piece. The rifle is stocked in sugar maple and stained with iron nitrate. A sling swivel is located on the forward end of the stock, along with a button on the underside of the butt to incorporate a sling. The barrel is a Rice, .54 caliber, and is 41″ in length. The barrel profile is the cut down version of the Rice “Dutch Lancaster”. The lock is a Chambers round faced Germanic lock. Both the barrel and lock have been cold blued, then rubbed back to a steel grey color. The iron mounts are hand forged by Eric Kettenburg, and have also been cold blued and treated to match the lock and barrel. Early style Baroque raised wood carving is located around the rear ram rod thimble, around the barrel tang, on the wrist, and behind the cheek piece. This rifle is in new, unfired condition.
